About Taffina
Bio
Taffina has been a physiotherapist since 1998, receiving her degree from McMaster University. She started her career in orthopedics, completing extensive education and gaining experience with manual therapy and soft tissue/myofascial release techniques. Additionally, she is certified in acupuncture from the McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program, and in Gunn IMS-dry needling from the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine. Over the last decade, she has successfully completed numerous oncology focused courses with an emphasis on rehabilitation following side effects of cancer treatments. In addition, she is a Combined Decongestive Therapist and an Assistive Devices Program Authorizer for compression garments. She has a strong desire to assist anyone going through cancer care and does so with empathy, care, and expertise.
Interests
Outside of her professional commitments, Taffina is a loving mom of two amazing, athletic young men, enjoys yoga and keeping active and travelling with her spouse whenever possible.
Inspiration
Over and above her clinical practice, Taffina is dedicated to encouraging other physiotherapists to gain knowledge and experience by mentoring and fostering lifelong learning practices. Additionally, she is an Assistant Clinical Professor (Adjunct) at the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at McMaster University where she teaches Physiotherapy students and keeps up with the latest physiotherapy research.
